Poverty

Extreme poverty as far as the eyes can see. And hopelessness. That is how I would describe what I saw in Haiti. Busy crowded streets. The smell of exhaust and pollution. Homes consisting of ruins. Beeping cars starting at the crack of dawn. It all starts to take a toll on you after a few days much less a lifetime. Not a place I would choose to stay, but a place that holds a special place in my heart. As we would be driving in the van and come to a stop, people would sometimes come to the window to try to sell something or ask for something. It's amazing how a granola bar or a fruit roll up can make someone's day. So much we take for granted here, as my kids usually smirk at a granola bar (unless it's chewy chocolate chip ) and usually shove 2 fruit roll ups in their mouth at a time. But the funny thing is I can't wait to go back. Please pray for Haiti.

Haiti gets under your skin... like so many mosquito bites or a fungus. :)

It definitely changes you.

It was fun to see sweet Vania. She's adorable.
