Up On The House Top?

No , not reindeer paws . It would be the roofers here to fix our roof from "Windstorm 2008!"Our roof is finished and beautiful( if roofs can be considered beautiful). Besides all the pounding today , it started out to be a rough Saturday. We had to put our cat of 15 1/2 years, Lyza, to sleep. It was very hard to let her go. There was no fooling the kids this morning when we told them Lyza had a doctor's appointment. So we all said our goodbyes and Adam bravely took her in to the vet. Our vet is so compassionate. Adam said the vet thought Lyza was having bowell trouble due to a tumor on her upper intestine. He said we could give her medicine , but that it wouldn't cure anything just prolong the inevitable. So he also recommended she be put to sleep. They were very supportive. On a more positive note.. We got the christmas tree up and decided to save the outdoor lights until tommorrow. It's been a long day.Bye for now.

FRIIIIIIDAY

Remember Suzie Wad from 92xfm in the old days? It's FRIIIDAY ! We had a great Thanksgiving.
Lots of food and great company. We are glad my cousin Hannah her friend Adam and her 2 boys , Gage and Hayden, were able to come up from Tennessee to visit. Just a quick update on this weeks progress. Our psych report went splendidly. Dr. Miller was very encouraging and very helpful. It felt very good to have his positive recommendation, when throughout this process you tend to feel scrutinized. Adam got his employer letter back from Biglots( another document to be checked off). And now we are reading the adoptive parent manuel and answering questions, which is part of the required parent education that will be kept on file at our agency. So, we keep moving closer to all the paperwork being compiled. I think this weekend we will start putting up christmas decorations. Carson has been asking to put the Christmas tree up since November first. December is on it's way! Hope you enjoy the pictures below.Have a great weekend.
Bambi:)
P.S. I forgot to mention that our homestudy interview/update also went well last Saturday. We are just one doctor appointment away from that being completed. Unfortunately the doctor's office cannot see us until December the 17th. So close but yet so far!

Thankful

Hello all,
The song Thank you by 1o,ooo Maniacs kept playing in my head all morning so I added a playlist for this Thanksgiving week. What are you thankful for? I have many, many reasons to be thankful this year. But, I think the number one reason I am thankful today is because I am loved. I am thankful that God loves me and that he has put so many people in our lives to love us and for us to love them. We are going to my mom's house for Thanksgiving day and we are looking forward to pigging out and catching up with everyone. Another thing to be thankful for......a 4 day weekend! Have a great holiday from our family to yours!

Weekly Update

I can't believe it is Friday again. I wanted to check the mail today before posting to see if Callia's pictures and video might be here. Not today, but they should be arriving soon. Adam and I went to Office Max last weekend and purchased a filing cabinet to get organized. We've been putting it off for a while as things have been piling. But it looks like we have everything set up just in time. Now instead of just requesting documents and appointments we are receiving documents and attending appointments. This week we received our certified birth certificates and marriage certificates. We got our notarized bank letters and copies of our 1040's for the last three years. Got our local police records run and notarized. And, last but not least, we had our psych evalu done. I also appreciate our reference people taking the time to get their letters done. So it has been a productive week. The new filing cabinet will be filling fast!
Zoe had her orthodontist appointment this week and will be getting her braces off over Christmas break! YEA! Which is great news. Boy did that time go by fast. It would have been one year in January. The orthodontist will look at her again in a few years to see if she needs any more corrections to her overbite. Her teeth look great! She has also taken our old filing box and added folders although she is disappointed she doesn't have as many files as we do. I told her to be grateful someday she will have a file for bills and taxes along side her files for coloring and drawings.
Carson has finished his second round of antibiotics for Strep and now has a cold! He brought home a packet of Veteran's Day paper dolls to color and put together. Once he'd finished working on them he wanted to name them after Vet's in our family. He decided one would be Uncle Andy then realized the other was a girl! So he said she must be Aunt Julie then. So now he has Uncle Andy and Julie figures.
Zane has had a quiet week. He is actually home from school and sick today. He has been enjoying just hanging out and playing with friends in the neighborhood now that football practice is over.
We officially end football and cheerleading this weekend. Zoe's Redskin's banquet is Saturday and Zane's Charger banquet is Sunday. Have a great weekend.

TGIF

It's Friday!I thought I would add one more picture of Callia for the weekend.Kathy from Wasatch was kind enough to forward a picture to me which I think I deleted. This is one of her first referral pics. Her eye is a little swollen due to an infection at the time.It is a great close-up.I just realized I can comment on my own comment board(DUH) .Don't worry,we have been reading all of them.Thankyou to everyone for their encouagement and willingness to serve us in all compacities! In a world where being self reliant is so highly respected, I know it was not the way we were designed. We can not do this alone. All of you in some way are an important part of the journey .Thank you. As far as prayer needs, we have a psychological evalu. on next Thursday. This is a requirement per Haiti.I've already confirmed with the secretary today that this is a simple test.No electrodes or wires! She just laughed. But we still need your prayers. We were able to get our physicals scheduled this week and our vital statistics paperwork ordered.Things are moving along. That's it for now.Have a great weekend!

Election 2008

We are getting ready to walk our troop down to the elementary school to vote this morning.I just a wanted to share a couple funny little stories during this crazy election day.Our family went to a costume party this last Saturday and on the walk home Carson ran up so excited to announce to us that John McCain had been at the party. He was so genuine and full of excitement .We just responded with ,"well , how did you know it was really him?". Very confident he replied ," Because Shannon said". You have to remember that Carson and Shannon are best buds , so anything they tell eachother is the gospel. He had forgotten that Sarah Palin ,had also blessed us with her presence that evening as well.Well, we will be leaving shortly to vote on this "Selection Day " as Carson keeps referring to it. Don't forget to vote!!

You can find the link on the sidebar of the blog.Through the web page students can work on there vocabulary and math. For each right answer the company will donate 20 grains of rice to the hungry.Their goal is to donate over 1,000,000 grains of rice before the end of the school year.Any kid can participate and it is free!Check it out!

Welcome

Thanks for checking out our blog. We are officially open to family and friends. As many of you know, we have started an adoption journey to Haiti to adopt a 15mo. old little girl.Right now we are just starting to get our paperwork together for Haiti called a "dossier"and updating our current home study. We would appreciate all the encouragement and prayers we can get. Please pray that Callia would be healthy, strong and well cared for. Please pray for guidance to get through the paperwork and that God would remove any obstacles along the way to bringing Callia home.Thank you in advance for your prayers.

Catching Up

We have ended football, cheer leading and soccer season. Even though it was a blast, we are all ready to take a timeout!! Trick or treat is over and now we move into the holiday season. Our family is so thankful this year about the coming addition to our family, Callia Grace. We are grateful to be able to pursue her adoption and give her a family. We got pictures and an update Friday from our agency (Wasatch international). They just took a trip to Haiti in October and were able to get pics and video of her while they were there. Callia had been sick with Ghiardia , along with other children but has been treated and doing well. At almost 15mo. old, she is 13lbs.( -3 lbs. since June due to illness), 28in.
She is on target developmentally and socially. Sitting independently, crawling and getting ready to take her first steps! The agency said she was not happy about being taken from her caregivers for pictures. hat is why she is upset in the photos above. There may be more pictures and a video for us next week :) Until then, PAPERWORK!
